Two of the most successful amateurs on the Ohio scene will finally meet inside the cage.

Rob Hanna (2-0, 0-0 BFC) is expected to meet Rocky Edwards (1-0, 0-0 BFC) in a lightweight bout at next month’s Bellator 78 event, which takes place on October 27 at the Nutter Center in Dayton.

Both fighters have been rumored to face off before, even as recently as January as the main event for an ill-fated OFC event that was eventually postponed until March. Both fighters decided to turn pro instead of competing for Hanna’s OFC lightweight belt, and both have racked up perfect pro records thus far.

After a 7-0 amateur record, Edwards made his pro debut at PurgatoryFS 07 in May, where he stopped Larry Ray with a submission in the second round.

Hanna had an impressive 13-2 record in his 15 amateur fights, and he made his debut as a professional with a victory over Brian Burgan at a Rocktagon event in May. He then followed up that victory with an impressive first round stoppage over Nate Clark at UVC 20 last month.

Bellator 78 will also feature local notables Brian Rogers and Zoila Gurgel, as well as the semifinals of the Season Seven Welterweight Tournament.
