Bellator Fighting Championships will make its fifth appearance in the Buckeye State in October, when the organization heads to Dayton for a second time.
Sources close to the event confirmed the details with GatewayMMA.com. The event, which will serve as Bellator 78, will be aired on MTV 2 and will take place at the 10,400-seat Nutter Center on the campus of Wright State University.
Bellator 5 also took place at the Nutter Center on May 1, 2009. The event featured Toby Imada’s inverted triangle victory over Jorge Masvidal that won “submission of the year,” as well as appearances by noted fighters Eddie Alvarez and Dave Herman. Ohio products Justin Edwards (currently in the UFC) and Frank Caraballo (current NAAFS featherweight champion) also made their organizational debuts.
No bouts are known for the event at this time, although the event could feature the semifinals of the Season Seven Lightweight Tournament, as well as multiple fighters who hail from the Buckeye State.
