The retirement for Matt Hamill (10-4, 9-4 UFC) was short-lived.
The light heavyweight who hails from Loveland, Ohio will return to the UFC, as he is set to take on debuting foe Roger Hollett (13-3, 0-0 UFC) at UFC 152 in September.
Hamill, a deaf fighter and former collegiate wrestling champion, is looking to snap out of a two-fight losing streak. His last appearance was at UFC 133 just over a year ago, where he dropped a bout to Alexander Gustafsson via TKO. Before that, he dropped a unanimous decision to Quinton Jackson in the main event at UFC 130.
Hamill will take on the Canadian Hollett, who comes into the bout in Toronto riding a five-fight winning streak. A one-time Bellator veteran, Hollett earned a split decision over John Hawk at Bellator 57 last year.
UFC 152 will be headlined by a flyweight title bout between Joseph Benavidez and Demetrious Johnson.
