The American MMA Championships returned this past weekend to Southwestern Ohio, as American MMA Series 1 took place in Hamilton with a seven-fight amateur card. Our friends at Bluegrass MMA first reported the results.

In the main event, Steven Newell (4-1) improved his record with a unanimous decision over Portland Pringle (5-3), who dropped his third straight. The win was the fourth in a row for Newell.

Jerrick Boykin (3-2) snapped a two-fight losing streak, as he was able to claim a unanimous decision over Donny Korbel (4-5) in a bantamweight clash. Matthew Reilman (4-1) handed Renje Loving (4-1) his first loss, as he claimed a unanimous decision victory as well.

The other four bouts were all stoppages, as debut fighters Shane Smith (1-0), Josh Dugan (1-0), Nicholas Cox (1-0), and Evan Samad (1-0) all picked up their first career victories.
