Fan-favorite welterweight Dave Vandevelde (0-1) is set to make his return to the cage, and he looks to get the sour taste of a disputed disqualification loss in his pro debut out of his mouth as he is set to take on Benjamin Smith (1-0) as part of the pro card at next month’s “Rock N Rumble 6″ card.

Vandevelde made his pro debut in January after a 6-0-1 amateur career, but he was disqualified in the first round of his bout with Kelli Gottardo as he threw a knee to the head of Gottardo, who was getting up from the ground after a scramble.

Vandevelde will take on Smith, a member of Xtreme Couture who fights out of Las Vegas. Smith had a 4-0-1 record as an amateur, and he most recently made his professional debut in January, where he was victorious three times to win a one-night tournament, although just one of the three bouts counts as official on his record.

“Rock N Rumble 6″ takes place at Jacobs Pavilion in Cleveland on August 17.
