Cody Stevens (9-4) will return to the cage in less than two weeks, as he has accepted a 140-pound catchweight bout against Bellator veteran Wilson Reis (13-4) at next Friday’s Matrix Fights VI event in Philadelphia.
Stevens comes in off of a victory over Anthony Durnell at “RFO: Big Guns 10″ in March, a victory that snapped a three-fight losing streak for “The Wolverine.” He recently announced an intention to drop to the bantamweight division, and this 140-pound catchweight bout could be a test to see how he can fare at 135 pounds in the future.
A veteran of the sport, Reis has competed since 2006 as a professional. After starting out his career in Elite XC, where he won the organization’s bantamweight championship, Reis then signed with Bellator and competed nine time for them, including two tournament appearances. Most recently, he earned a submission victory over Bruno Menezes at an event in Brazil in December.
