Jeff Boyer (3-0) was successful in the headliner of last Saturday’s Cage Clash 1 in Newark, Ohio, as he capped off the all-amateur card with a submission due to strikes over Jon Worstell (1-2) just 2:35 into their bout.
The fight capped off a night that featured a dozen bouts, including multiple notables from the Central Ohio area.
Aaron Neighbors (7-3) bounced back from his loss to Justin McNally in his last outing by submitting Joey Rine (6-6) with a rear naked choke in the second round. Neighbors, the current RFO bantamweight champion, has now won four of his last five bouts. Rine has now lost three of his last four after snapping a five-fight winning streak last year.
Joshua Stallard (4-1) bounced back from his first career loss after a 13-plus month layoff, as he submitted Joey Rine’s brother Jason Rine (5-12) with a guillotine in the first round. Stallard has now finished all four of his wins via submission, while Rine has now lost three in a row.
Other notable winners at Cage Clash 1 included “Karate” Mike Williams (8-7), Andrew Schuster (2-1), Austin Durbin (2-1), and Conner Hina (2-1).
